TERMITE INSPECTIONS & METHODS

Contrary to popular beliefs Subterranean Termites ( White Ants ) are easy to find, If you know what to look for.

Subterranean Termites are present in and around most homes and gardens.

One in four homes either currently have or have had at some time been attacked by subterranean termites causing millions of dollars worth of damage every year.

In Australia we have over 300 different species of termites , but fortunately , many termite species pose no threat to our homes or properties.

The tricky bit is knowing which species of termite is a threat to your home and how to locate an infestation and how to deal appropriately with them.

That’s why it is important to have REGULAR VISUAL TERMITE INSPECTIONS carried out in accordance with Australian Standard 3660.2 - 2000 by our fully Accredited and Qualified inspectors every year.

If we suspect that an area may have an infestation of termites but cannot be sure , we would then recommend a more invasive inspection , BORESCOPE , be carried out.

BORESCOPE INSPECTIONS allow us to see into wall cavities , bulk heads and any other suspect areas by drilling a 10mm hole and inserting the Borescope.

The Borescope has its own light source built into the end of the scope.

There are 2 types of Borescopes

1.Flexible
2.Rigid

The difference between them is that the Flexible Borescope has a fixed focus view , whereas the Rigid Borescope has a focusable view allowing for better vision.

If the thought of holes being drilled or cut into your walls and other cavities does not appeal to you , or you may not be allowed to or want any damage caused , we can carry out aTHERMAL IMAGING INSPECTION that will allow us to pin point areas that would require further investigation.

THERMAL IMAGING CAMERA is used to detect temperature variations in the areas being checked .

To a qualified and trained Technician this can then be used to determine if there are any signs of current or past termite infestation

A Thermal Imaging Inspection should only be carried out in conjunction with a Visual Termite Inspection.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I SUSPECT I HAVE A TERMITE PROBLEM?

1) DON’T PANIC - Whilst some termite species can cause large amounts of damage to your home , it doesn’t happen overnight . It can take anywhere from 3 to 6 months for termites to start causing any damage to your home , so another day or two is not going to be a problem.

2) DO NOT SPRAY OR DESTROY TERMITES / TERMITE WORKINGS - This will make it harder for our technician to assess the species of termite attacking your home and may cause them to attack other areas of your home.

3) CALL US IMMEDIATELY - A qualified technician will come and inspect your home to determine the severity of the infestation and recommend the appropriate course of treatment required.
